NEW DELHI: State-owned BSNL has banned Chinese vendors Huawei and ZTE from bidding for its Rs 2,000-crore contract for supply of 55 lakh GSM lines for its Northern and Eastern zones. BSNL has specified that only three Western vendors — Ericsson, Nokia Siemens and Alcatel Lucent — can participate in the bidding process.
“It is a fact that telecom gear from Western vendors are expensive when compared to Chinese vendors, but a government directive prevents us from placing any orders with telecom gear makers from China, especially if the equipment has to be installed in circles that share international boundaries,” BSNL chairman and managing director Kuldeep Goyal told ET. He also added that BSNL board had cleared the new tender, limiting the participation to the three Western vendors, last week.

BSNL-bans-Chinas-Huawei-ZTE-from-bidding
BSNL finds difficulties in buying telecom equipments ,shortage of cables, capacity crunch in broadband etc. BSNL at last has banned Chinese equipments thus paving the way for other vendors to supply their equipments at the earliest. So the question of Chinese vendors are not there. Now BSNL can expand with other vendors. The real motive of China is to get supply orders from various countries, supply them and try to close other vendors. As there is no market demand for other telecom vendors, it is natural for them to close the company. At last the Chinese companies will survive, they can dictate markets etc.
