Now, pay BSNL bills without hassles
Staff Reporter THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Long queues of customers waiting to remit telephone bills will be a thing of the past with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL) commissioning an ‘Any time payment machine' in the city.
The machine has been installed at the Central Telegraph Office at Statue. The customers can pay the telephone bills even after the office hours through the machine, which resembles an ATM.
The touch screen will provide a Malayalam and English menu to enable the customer to choose the language preferred.
The next query will be to select the cash or cheque option. The bill amount will be displayed once the telephone number is provided by the customer. A green light will blink to indicate the spot where the cash is to be kept.
Currency of the denomination of Rs.5, 10, 50 and 100 will be accepted. The customer will have to place the currency notes one by one so that the machine can accept them. It will not accept currencies of the denomination of Rs.500 and Rs.1,000 for the time being.
Those coming with fake currencies beware. The machine has an in-built facility to detect fake currency notes. It will also not accept coins.
The machine also does not have the facility to repay the balance amount. Those remitting more money need not worry as it will be adjusted in the next month's bill.
The machine is already introduced at Chennai
