JAC Meeting on 23rd Set.2010:

JAC meeting held on 23rd Sept at Delhi reviewed pending issues on which strike decision (Oct 19 to 21) was taken.
GS FNTO said the strike would be necessary only if the dispute on issues between the Govt. and the Unions get sharpened. He recollected the strike decision was taken when there was a threat of Disinvestment and retrenchment of 100000 workers after the announcement of Pitroda Committee Report. Now DOT has recommended to Govt. against Disinvestment. No decision has been taken on VRS either by DOT or by the Ministry. Further, MOC has reassured that decision will be taken on issues on Disinvestment, VRS etc. only after consulting Unions. So the ultimate power of workers to go on strike should not be wasted unless there is a show-down.
Unions should not resort to strike just because a decision has been taken to this effect.
The suggestion of Shri Asokababu (BSLNEU) to organize a march to Parliament has been accepted by all. Finally JAC President and Convener announced that the strike is rescheduled to Nov. 24th in view of elections in Bihar and Kerala.
