From information received, BSNL management and JAC leaders discussed the following things.
Joint Action Committee did not accept the disinvestment proposal or 30% stake sale idea. JAC told that it will lead to VSNL way and JAC stoutly rejected the idea.
Regarding voluntary retirement scheme, nearly 50,000 BSNL staff are going to retire on superannuation. If VRS is accepted then it will be only Compulsory retirement scheme. So JAC also not accepted the idea of VRS.
Regarding sharing of infrastructure, BSNL management said that BSNL infrastructure is being misued. JAC told if there is misue of BSNL machinery, stringent action should be taken against those who cause loss to BSNL. Already BSNL is facing shortage of cables, not able to provide broadband on demand and so the idea of sharing of insfrastructure with other private operators was not accepted by JAC.
Full report will be given after getting further inputs.
DoT and JAC is likely to meet on 09 09 10.
