Shri K. Vallinayagam, GS FNTO attended the Presentation Meeting with DoT Implementation Committee on the above report on 09.09.2010.
The GS stated that FNTO is broadly in agreement with JAC comments in protesting against Disinvestments, VRS, and Unbundling etc.
However, he pointed out that if VRS comes without strings or compulsion and with a reasonable package a section of BSNL workers would welcome that.
In inculcating work culture based on performance parameters, there was general agreement between both sides.
DOT was represented through Shri S.C. MISRA, Member Services and other Senior Officers. BSNL Management was represented through Shri S. R. KAPOOR Executive Director (Finance) and other senior officers of BSNL.
The Staff side was represented by S/Shri VAN Namboodiri, Convener and C. Singh, Chairman JAC besides GSs of constituents.
No doubt that BSNL is over staffed. Reducing the staff number to a considerable extent by offering an attractive VRS package is the only solution.
