Additionally, we’ve received a note from Reliance Communications stating that the company added 2 million connections in all for the month, GSM and CDMA combined. Thus, India has added at least 14.4 million wireless connections for the month.
Telecom operator and circle-wise data (with inaccurate figures for RCOM and Tata Teleservices removed):
- Airtel, BSNL,and Uninor added over 2 million connections
- Aircel (1.6 million), Idea Cellular (1.4 million),and Vodafone (1.7 million) added over a million connections.
- For once, BSNL has registered the highest increase in connections, with 2.3 million additions, a 3.32% increase in its base. BSNL now has 72.6 million connections.
- Uninor’s continues to add over 2 million connections, with 2.17 million for the month. This is a 23.90% increase in its connection base, and it now has 11.27 million connections.
- STel, MTNL, Loop and Etisalat continue to flounder
- A good month for Videocon too, adding 817,373 connections
- Loop mobile added only 15,788 connections.
Circlewise Additions
- Bihar added the maximum GSM connections during the month, and now has 31.75 million GSM connections.
- Jammu & Kashmir this time added 48,733 connections during the month: it’s connection base had declined over the last two months.
- Among metro circles, Delhi added 384,985 connections, with Mumbai adding 281,712 connections.
