BSNL failed in Nagpur- Equipment problem

NAGPUR: Thousands of customers of prepaid BSNL mobile phone services were put to inconvenience when they found they could not make outgoing calls or send text messages.

The services remained affected for over 12 hours since early morning. When asked about the problem, BSNL CGM of Maharashtra circle Aloke Kaul said, “The problem was with our exchange in Pune. Due to certain technical problems in our systems, prepaid customers across the state could not make calls since 6am.”

The trouble was caused due to installation of new equipment. “BSNL and Alcatel technical team are on the job since morning. After new devices were installed, the systems failed. We didn't expect this,” said Kaul.

BSNL failed in Nagpur- Equipment problem

Our comments: Total prepaid customers in Nagpur area suffered a lot due to lack of call connectivity and also by SMS. Parents always send their sons and daughters fearlessly to far off places for studying and for jobs because of cell. If our services fail, lot of curse from many using our services. Private operators use this as golden opportunity saying that their services  will go undisturbed. Who knows that they also fail often. In Villupuram area on 03-07 10 evening near Koliyanur, Villupuram  , cell calls dropped and can't get connected. People living in those areas on that day would have cursed us. So it is high time that we must improve the quality of services.

  1. Can anybody assure a fault free service, leave alone telecom, even other small electronic equipments we use daily? if it can be, why these warrantys and guarantees? It is quite normal that at sometimes the equipments fail and the latest systems can not be repaired on the spot and for these sophisticated high-tech equipments, we can not have enough spares with us also. In a country, where most of the time we are reeling either under total current cut or highly fluctuating power supply how can we expect that the equipments will serve uninterrupted?
