BSNL tops in number portability

RAJAHMUNDRY: The BSNL East Godavari region has topped in Mobile Number Portability (MNP) in the country with the highest number of customers being switched to its network from others. This was announced by G. Raghavendra Rao, General Manager, along with Manoj Kumar, DGM, at a press conference here on Tuesday.
The total number of ‘port-in' customers during the period between January 20 and April 25 in the State was one lakh, while the number was 22,000 in East Godavari district alone which was more than that of Tamil Nadu (18,000) followed by Karnataka (12,000), Mr. Raghavendra Rao said. On the other hand, the number of ‘port-out' customers in the State was 22,000 of which only 900 customers belonged to East Godavari district, he added.
Prepaid customers
The financial year indicated that the BSNL earned a revenue of Rs.107 crores and it provided 1,61,563 landline connections, 35, 358 broadband connections, and 26, 989 WIL connections in East Godavari region. During this financial year, the BSNL activated 2.65 mobile connections in the district.
The region stood second in the State by registering five lakh prepaid customers to its network.
