JAC without NFTE and FNTO?

JAC  Comments from FNTO site- Tamil nadu
What is JAC? If you answer it is Joint Action Committee, then you are wrong. The dictionary of Sri Namboodiri will define it as  Joint Approval Committee. How else one can describe his latest decision of staging a dharna demanding immediate merger of 78.2% IDA? It seems a JAC meeting was convened by Sri VAN . Neither FNTO nor NFTE was invited or even informed of this. It is also learnt many other unions in the JAC were also not invited. Later on, after taking a decision of agitating on 14/6, the decision was conveyed to GS/FNTO over phone and FNTO was requested to participate in the agitation. FNTO categorically refused to join the agitational program raising few queries.

    1. When a settlement was reached on New Pay on 20/4/2010, the unions represented to the Hon'ble Minister for Communications, Sri A.Raja, about merger of 78.2% IDA with pay. The Minister on the spot itself directed the DOT Secretary and Chairman BSNL to sort out the issue and find a solution within 15 days. He informed the union representatives also to approach him if it is not done within 15 days. Why the JAC did not meet him or bring it to his knowledge?
   2. Atleast the matter could have been discussed with either DOT or BSNL management. Why JAC did not pursue the case?
   3. Will it be fair to resort to agitations when no follow up action was not done by the JAC?
   4. Why all the members of JAC were not invited for the meeting to decide the course of action on merger of 78.2% IDA.

Further our GS has requested the convenor JAC, Sri VAN, to defer the program, reconvene JAC to discuss the matter afresh and decide.

FNTO is not averse to agitations for settlement of workers demands. But at the same time FNTO is also determined not to force agitations for the sake of agitations alone. We never believe in gimmicks.

Comments from Kadal Alai.

It is reported that executives have conveyed the decision of foregoing travelling allowances and newspaper allowances to get 78.2% IDA.
When the central govt. has raised transport allowances to 4 times, if executives forego, what will happen to non executives.?
When some officers in BSNL are eligible  for 78.2% why can't we get the same ?
What are the reasons for foregoing the benefits already we are enjoying it.

When all in central govt. and public sectors are enjoying the benefits of 78.2%, why some go to the management and say that they are ready to forego some benefits.

FNTO and NFTE may not concede to the demands of the executives.
BSNLWA is for benefits of workers.

Seeming that BSNLWA may not toe the lines of Joint Approval Committee, the convenor has silently forgotten to  call BSNLWA for JAC  meeting.
Is it the proper way of functioning of JAC or Joint Approval Committee?
The false propoganda that BSNLWA are not for workers interests won't go long as  BSNLEU and others who were involved in 09 06 10 talks were totally exposed.
BSNLWA wants unity to achieve workers benefits, sustain the organisation, joint actions to improve BSNL's image.

We don't want sit on laurels that we have achieved this thing, that thing but keep on fighting for workers rights and improve of the organisation.

So some are of the view that BSNLWA should have been called for talks on 09 06 10. Without BSNLWA, little can be achieved.
