BSNL replies to DoT regarding 78.2%
BSNL has finally replied to the queries raised by the DoT, on the matter of 78.2% IDA fixation. The reply was sent to the DoT last Friday.
If DoT makes further delay in the approval of the case, then the Forum will take decision for appropriate trade union action.

]United Forum meeting resolves to secure more than 50% votes for BSNLEU
A meeting of the United Forum was held at New Delhi today
the 18.02.2013. Com. Suresh Kumar, Chairman of the United
Forum, presided over the meeting. All the constituents of
the United Forum attended the meeting, except Com. V.
Subburaman (TEPU) and Com. P.Andiappan (FNTOBEA), who
could not come due to health reasons. The meeting
unanimously decided to:-

Secure more than
50% votes to BSNLEU in the 6th Membership
Verification.
v Issue
joint appeal and posters and also to conduct joint tours
to mobilise
support
for BSNLEU.

To conduct the
next meeting of the United Forum in the first week of
March,

BSNL Says Skype And Google Hangout Are Illegal In India
Government to re-examine legalities of VOIP services provided by Skype and Google.
Yes, you read it right. BSNL (AP) Chief General Manager Mr. V Srinivasan said these services are illegal in India, while launching video calling services for south and eastern zones of BSNL. Also present on the occasion, Mr. Killi Kruparani, Union Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology added that the Union Government will be re-examining the legalities of the services offered by Skype, Google and other such companies providing VOIP services.
Reports suggest that the move has come in a stir to bring Net Telephony under a combined licence system as Indian Telecom operators and ISPs pay taxes to the Government while companies like Skype are offering services with no payment to the Government.

UF meeting 30 01 13.
United Forum meeting held on 30.01.2013
The
National Steering Committee of the United Forum met on
30.01.2013, at New Delhi, under the chairmanship of Com.
Suresh Kumar. The meeting reviewed the situation after the
introduction of the New Recognition Rules as well as the
announcement of the 6th Membership
Verification. All the constituents of the UF firmly
reiterated that the Alliance should continue and also
should be strengthened. The meeting decided to meet again
on 17.03.2013 at New Delhi to finalise the campaign
programme for the 6th Verification.
RM to Telecom Asst.,TM will be Telecom Technician
Agreement signed for change of designations of RM and TM cadres
As
per the decision of the National Council meeting held on
30.01.2013, a meeting of the Designations Committee was
held on 31.01.2013. In this meeting the following
agreement was signed.
(1) The new designation
for the cadre of Regular Mazdoor
will be Telecom Assistant.
(2) The new designation
for the cadre of Telecom Mechanic
will be Telecom Technician.
(3) In respect of the
cadres of Sr.TOA, TTA, as well as other cadres, further
talks will take place for finalising new designations.
