Rs. 1.45 cr. worth re-charge coupon fraud in BSNL
Staff Reporter HYDERABAD: A fraud involving misuse of Cell One mobile phone re-charge coupons worth nearly Rs. 1.45 crore, allegedly involving some employees, came to light on Wednesday when the BSNL officials lodged a complaint with the Saifabad police here.
BSNL Assistant General Manager, Sales, Ratna Mohan Rao, in his complaint, stated that 26 CDs, each containing 5,000 electronic personal identification number (e-PIN) coupons, were stolen from the BSNL office at Saifabad. Each e-PIN coupon is worth Rs. 112. Subsequent departmental inquiry found that some of the e-PIN coupons had been sold to customers and were being used since December, 2009.
